The annual college entrance exam, one of the most important examinations in China, has opened nationwide with over 7.2 million university hopefuls taking the three-day exam.
In Beijing, the transportation of the test papers from a jail in Hebei Province to the eighteen district exam centers in the capital involved nearly one hundred police vehicles.
All the papers have been kept in a secret location in each exam center with round the clock surveillance.
More than 3,000 exam halls have been prepared, with first aid services in place.
Meanwhile, to crack down on cheating in the exam, the Ministry of Education has asked every candidate to sign a letter of trust to promise they won't cheat in the exam.
Furthermore, the Ministry has outlined punishments for cheaters. The most severe, for those who take the exam pretending o be someone else, will be expulsion from school or being fired by their companies.
Those who have already been accepted by universities through cheating will lose their places.
Examinees who try to cheat by using equipment such as cell phones will score zero.

Reportedly, illegal activities to do with drug addiction have become rampant in the city, and there are 17 thousand registered drug addicts.
The local government has set up organizations to offer help and care to drug addicts.
Under their help, the rate of returning to drug abuse has fallen three percent during the past six months.

The average lifespan in the southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region has nearly doubled in the past 45 years, from 35.5 to 67.
Medical expert attribute the prolonged lifespan to rising living standards, improved medical services and positive social conditions.
Local government statistics also show the number of people whose per capita net income was below the local poverty line of 157 US dollars a year has reduced by 410,000 to a little more than one million over the past three years.

A group of 60 Chinese beauties is to vie for the title of Miss China and a pass to the 33rd Miss Intercontinental Contest, when it maks its debut in China in late July.
The Miss Intercontinental Contest is scheduled to be held in Hohhot city in north China's Inner Mongolia on July 24th.
To win the sole entry to the contest, 60 Chinese beauties from around the country will compete for the title of Miss China at the southern coast city of Xiamen later this month.
They will start their 10-day training and charity activities in Xiamen from this weekend.
The Miss Intercontinental is one of the three international events sponsored by the World Beauty Organization, along with Miss Intercontinental and Top Model of the World.
